Sorry for the delay in blog posts, but with outdoor education in full swing, it has been difacult to find the time.
We welcomed the fifth graders from Boulder County School for Integrated Studies last week, and had a great four days with them, culminating with a great night hike and a campfire. BCSIS was the group where the outdoor ed instructors were able to teach our Woodsmen unit, which featured a great presentation by our facilities manager on controlled burns, beetle infestation and forest fires.
This week brought the sixth grade class from Vikan Middle School in Brighton, CO, and with them came our first bear sightings of the year. Unlike last year, when we had a small black bear who would infrequently come to camp to rummage through the dumpsters, this year, our bear has tripled in size, and while still easily scared, is far more audacious in his quest for food.
Hiring for summer camp is reaching its final stages, and next weekend we will welcome the majority of our leadership staff to put the planning phase of summer camp in full swing!
We'll post pictures soon!
